perfect colors!

This was recommended to me by my sister, and I'm loving it! The Philippines shade is perfect for my everyday use, while the australia shade is perfect for my going out use. It being small is a plus for me because its very handy and could fit in my bag without any worries.

I bought this as a gift for my self cause I’m from AUS and I was surprised at how pigmented the lipsticks were because I never tried any BLK products before. I wear at least one of the lipsticks daily. It is so versatile and I can’t wait to try more products.

Love these shades!

Today’s swatch is another lipstick that gave me a bit of a confusion. blk’s Philippines shade from the blk Travels collection is described as a rich brown shade. On swatches I’ve seen online, it really is a deep brown shade. But when I tried it, it’s actually more if a peachy orange nude shade that’s pretty close to Give Me Glow’s Daddy. I don’t know if this is one of those lipsticks that changes shade depending on the natural lip color and acidity of the skin of the person wearing it. But regardless, I was really surprised at how the color turned out.

Even if the color was not what I was expecting, I loved it! I used to stay away from lip products with a peachy or orangey undertone. But I learned to love them because of the Mayan Collection if Give Me Glow. Philippines is a beautiful natural looking color that is just perfect to use everyday. It will definitely flatter Filipina skin tone and will go well with any look. It’s the perfect every day lippie because the shade is not too dark or too bright.

Australia, the second lippie in blk Cosmetics Philippines/Australia blk Travels set, is a rich rusty brown. I’m not sure if this color qualifies as terracotta but it’s definitely a beautiful color, whatever shade it may be. For me, it’s a rusty orangey brown. I was expecting it to be this dark bold color that will be too loud to wear to the office. But surprisingly, it’s a vey wearable shade. It’s a color that’s definitely noticeable but not too eye catching and at the same time versatile enough to be worn every day. I can definitely see this shade being a go-to shade for most Filipinas.

Formula wise, the lippies have a matte finish. It’s a little bit creamy, just enough to give you a smooth glide. The pigmentation is nice, one swipe gives you a very nice coverage. It’s a bit streaky if you apply it to dry lips so you better do some prepping first. It transfers a bit but it’s not that noticeable. It smudges, though, so you need to be careful. It lasts a pretty decent amount of time. It fades after eating. But it stayed put for light and oil-free meals.

I really love these colors. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that blk will release a full sized version of these shades. I have to hand it to blk Cosmetics. When they said that their goal is to create a makeup line that will complement the Filipina skin tone, they really did. Well...at least as far as the products I’ve tried.

Great Shade and Moisturizing Matte

I bought this after researching thoroughly the shades of BLK and found out it was one of those affordable brands. I gave this one a try since I liked how the shades looked online and hoped that it is true to the product, upon opening and trying it on, it was perfect! great shade for Filipina women. I will buy again although the size is very small. hope there is a full size for this.

Comfortable to Wear

I bought this because I liked the concept of their collection, and PH & AUS are two countries close to my heart. It has the same formula as the All Day Intense Mattes, but I was disappointed with the color themselves. For example, PH was described to be a nude perfect for the Filipino skin, but it was really weird on me. I don't know what kind of complexion it suits but personally, I'm not that mestiza and not that morena either. And for the AUS, it looked like it would be brick red but it's actually closer to red orange?? Not hating on the products themselves but I really think it's better to buy lipsticks in person so you can really test it out on your skin instead of relying on online photos.

PHIL'n AUS-ome

I got this mostly because of the packaging (they look like Legos!) and the concept of the whole collection. I love that Anne choose an entirely different color palette for the packaging as opposed to all the pinks, pastels and blah blacks in the market today. I also love the fact that these are travel friendly too! In terms of the actual lipstick, it has the same formulation as the other All-Day Mattes (same tuggy effect but great pigmentation and staying power, completely scent-free). The description of the shades on their ads and shops are a little misleading though. Philippines is definitely NOT a brown lipstick, rather, it's an very subdued salmon in real life. Australia on the other hand is a medium brick red colour in my opinion. They're both very wearable though! They're great as multi-purpose tints on the cheeks and lids too.
